Transitioning from Coach to World Traveler
Change is never easy, but I did it. And so can YOU.
Once upon a time, I was a language teacher. A few years later, with further studies, I became a Teacher Trainer. I trained people who spoke a foreign language and wanted to obtain certification as language teachers. I LOVED my work for years and years...except for the last two. The Institute got a new director and I got a new course coordinator and the work environment suddenly became very hostile. Teachers would come in every morning and the talk in the coffee room was nothing but complaints, anger, and dissatisfaction. I loved my work so much that I tolerated the situation for 2 years.
They say networking is important for one's career. Case in point, a trainee of mine from the teacher's certification course called me after graduation and said she was working for a huge company whose directors wanted an English teacher. I interviewed and got the job. Life continued for those 2 awful years.
Then I had the opportunity to make a transition into a different lifestyle and a whole new career. I was scared to death but I took it.
I wish I had a dime for every time someone has said this to me. But I get it! As a teenager, I used to dream of having a job where I could travel. It seemed like an unattainable, glamorous fantasy because in my dream I wasn’t taking into consideration the part where I had to work.
Well, I had my dream job…now what?! The transition from coach to road warrior in the Olympic Movement was HARD! There were so many things I didn’t know, so many things I didn’t expect, I had to learn on the fly and, being a natural planner, it hurt my very soul to have to improvise every day.
A year ago, a few of close friends of mine who are also a part of the Olympic Movement, asked me what my plans were for 2019. One of them said, “Why don’t you write a book? You’ve lived a pretty amazing life and seen and done things most only ever dream of!” That planted a seed in my mind.
Then several people started contacting me through LinkedIn and social media, asking me for advice on how to get a job where they could work and travel, how I recommended they proceed, etc. And I started to schedule my communications with them because they got to be quite a large group.
And finally, I thought, why not use my years of experience as a Teaching Coach, combine it with all I’ve learned being a road warrior and living a work and travel lifestyle and create a course that anyone can access? A step by step guide that we can go through together, where I can help them navigate a career change or transition, a lifestyle change, how to avoid the pitfalls and the tips and tricks to getting ahead in this way of life.
So, ladies and gentlemen, friends, I’ve finally created the course and it’s been launched for PRE-SALE at a special price and for a limited number of participants. Once the course closes, everyone interested will be put on a waitlist.
Have a wonderful week!! And see you very soon at the course!
